What's new in the REST API

What's new in the Magnews REST API, release by release. Each item links to the request in the Postman collection; the full reference is in the Reference Guide.

October 2026 (31.10, October 8)

• Complete communications and transactional messages in a single call. The create requests now accept the sections field, so you can write the Magnews Q sections of the message right away. If a section is not valid the message is not created, so no half-written drafts are left behind. Create communication, Create transactional message
• Tracking chosen for each sending. With the trackingPolicyOverrideMode option you decide whether to track opens and clicks, turn tracking off, or apply the privacy settings of the account. • Communications and transactional messages from a template. Create email communications and transactional messages from a design template, global or custom, setting subject, sender and the other options of the message.

• Content built with Magnews Q sections. Find out which sections a template offers and with which parameters, then use them to compose the content of a draft communication. Requires Magnews Q to be enabled on the account.

• Contact count. Count contacts by subscription status in a database or an audience, with an optional filter, seeing only the contacts the user has access to.
