Contact import modes
The application allows you to import contacts in two ways:
- Push: uses webhook notifications to receive real-time submissions of acquisition forms, sent directly from LinkedIn to the platform.
- Pull: periodic (and optionally manual) synchronization requested by the platform to LinkedIn.
The push mode is the most efficient, but there could be situations where some submissions are lost, especially due to potential service disruptions. In such cases, the periodic synchronization, if active, will recover the contacts that were lost previously. The default configuration includes a daily periodic synchronization, but it can be configured with hourly granularity.
Each synchronization operation can be configured independently for each form by accessing the edit page in the Synchronization category.
The checkbox allows you to enable/disable the periodic synchronization feature. During the initial configuration of a new form, the synchronization will be enabled but will not start because global import is still turned off.
Manual Synchronization
The Start Manual Import button initiates a manual import of contacts; for example, it can be used if the fields were incorrectly mapped. When pressed, a popup window appears:
You can select three different options:
- Synchronize existing contacts as well: if you select this option, all contacts, including those already existing, will be synchronized from the last execution date.
- Restart workflows for synchronized contacts: if you select this option, the contacts that are synchronized again will re-enter the workflow. The entry limits set in the workflow will still be respected to avoid a contact initiating multiple sessions. This option is only visible when the previous one is also active.
- Synchronize all submissions from the form: if you select this option, new contacts will be synchronized from the creation of the LinkedIn form. If you have selected both synchronization options, all submissions from the form will be taken, overwriting the values of contacts who had already submitted.
Activating a manual import will reset the statistics of imported and updated contacts as well as import errors.
Default contact fields
To ensure the correct functioning of the application and to facilitate its use, during installation, the application automatically creates the following fields:
- LinkedIn - Imported: a Boolean value indicating whether the contact was imported from a LinkedIn acquisition form;
- LinkedIn - Import Date: date of the last import or update of the contact;
- LinkedIn - Submitted Forms: a relationship field that records all the submissions a contact has made. A submission corresponds to a single form. If a form is submitted more than once, the data will be overwritten with the latest submission.
The fields listed above can be used to apply filters on contacts or to generate dynamic audiences.
The Submitted Forms field, which is a relationship type, gives you access not only to the identifier but also to other properties such as the ad account or the form.
For example: the following filter is configured to show all contacts that originate from test submissions of the Test Form.
Synchronization status
In the list of configured forms, you will see counters and a status indicator.
- Import Status:
- green dot: indicates that import is enabled
- gray dot: indicates that global import is disabled
- yellow triangle: indicates that no contacts have been imported for a certain period of time;
- Imported Contacts: the total number of contacts that have been successfully imported since the form was configured;
- Total Errors: the number of import errors caused by incorrect configuration;
- Import Errors: contains an icon to download the error log if available.
