Protecting online forms from unwanted entries by bots is essential to safeguard user data and prevent spam, as well as preserve your brand's reputation. Google reCAPTCHA offers an effective solution for distinguishing submissions made by human users from those made by bots. In this guide, you'll discover how to activate and configure Google reCAPTCHA (version 2 or 3) in your magnews account, ensuring advanced protection for your online forms.
What is Google reCAPTCHA
Google reCAPTCHA is a technology designed to protect websites from automated and malicious traffic. There are two main versions:
- Google reCAPTCHA v2: requires direct interaction with the user. Users will see a "I'm not a robot" checkbox and, in some cases, may have to select images to confirm their eligibility.
- Google reCAPTCHA v3: It's invisible to the user and operates in the background, assigning a score from 0 to 100 that determines the likelihood that the user is human. The higher the score, the greater the certainty that the user is genuine.

Edit "Captcha" element as follows:
- Question text: the text of the question presented to the user and is also used in the Error Box to identify the question in case of incorrect answers;
- Name: name to identify the element in the library of contents, it is only visible to account users;
- Type: Choose between captcha, Google reCAPTCHA v2 or v3, depending on what is configured in the journey setup;
-
Minimum threshold to accept the answer (only for reCAPTCHA v3): indicates the minimum threshold for which you want to consider the compilations valid (recommended threshold no lower than 50).
If the user's compilation is assigned a score lower than the one indicated here, the response to the landing page will be rejected.
