How to test an automated flow

Check that everything is ok

You have just finished your automated flow and are in the state

Draft first you have to check that technically everything is correct by clicking on the button Validate.

If there are errors you have to correct them first

When your automated flow is ready click the Publish button

If you select:

• In pause the automated flow will not be active (no “real” contacts enter even if they meet the entry conditions) and you can test it before publishing.
• In production the automated flow will be published and active.

Start a session

1. Click the button Start test
2. Select the reference database, an internal contact to test on, and the input node, and click the button Start test
3. A window opens with details of your session
   By clicking Refresh you can follow the step-by-step test, if you click OK you go back to the screen with the flow diagram.
4. You will see that your contact is passed from the input node to another node
   Nodes will have numbers:
   
   
   • the black number on the left --> indicates the number of total sessions
   • The number on the right --> with the pointer symbol --> indicates the number of sessions currently present in this node In our example in the Wait node there is one active session and in total only one contact has passed through this node
5. If you click on the number next to the locator symbol, a window opens with the list of sessions in the node in question at this time
   in our case there is only one contact:
   
   • if you check the box next to the contact, the button appears that allows you to perform some actions
   • If you click on the contact's ID, its detail opens up
     

In the example above, the contact is in the waiting node, to finish the test faster than real time (in our case there is a 2-day wait) I choose the action Move forward to the next node.
In other cases you could also:

• delete the session
• force the exit

Start a test like a real contact

You can't create 100 test addresses because it would be impossible to simulate all behaviors?

feign to be a contact!!!

You can start a test session as if you are a specific contact
Click the button Start test
Flag the option Send messages to another recipient

The address XXXX@magnews.it will receive the communication as if it is the indicated contact.

Publish

Have you checked everything? have you tested all the alternative ways of the flow?

WELL, you are ready to put the flow into production, however, remember to delete all test sessions so your statistics will not be affected.

Click the button Publish and select the option In production.
