After creating an on site message, you can customize its design, content, and structure in the designer. Start with a ready-made template, add multiple pages, and use content blocks to create the experience that best fits your visitors.
If this is your first time using this feature, learn what on site messages are and when to use them.
If you want to configure display rules, triggers, and privacy settings instead, see the article on how to create and configure an on site message.
Choose a starting template
As soon as you create an on site message, you can choose from several ready-made templates to use as a starting point.
Each template provides an initial structure and style designed for a specific goal, such as promoting an offer, encouraging signups, or highlighting an important message. You can use it as a starting point and freely customize its content, objects, pages, and styles.
Your template choice isn't permanent. After selecting one, you can adapt every element to match your project and your brand identity.
Work in the designer
The designer is where you build what visitors will see when the message appears on your website.
From here, you can:
- Manage the message pages
- Add content blocks
- Edit text, images, and buttons
- Customize colors, fonts, spacing, and layout
- Preview the final result
Manage the message pages
An on site message can include one or more pages. Using the select in the center of the designer, you can create new pages and manage existing ones.
A multi-page structure is useful when you want to guide visitors through an experience made up of multiple steps.
For example, you can:
- Present an offer on the first page and display a discount code on the second
- Show additional information only after a click
- Guide visitors toward a call to action
Navigation between pages is managed through the Navigation action assigned to buttons.
Add blocks and form fields
The objects available in the designer are divided into two main categories: blocks and form.
- Blocks let you build the message content by adding text, images, buttons, columns, spacing, and other visual elements.
- Form objects let you collect information directly from visitors. You can use text fields, drop-down menus, checkboxes, ratings, and more. Find the complete list in the article about form fields.
You can add new objects either by dragging them from the side panel into the workspace or by clicking the + button. After adding an object, select it to edit its content and settings.
Offer a discount code
Among the available blocks, you'll also find the discount code.
This block displays a code that visitors can copy with a single click.
You can use it to offer, for example:
- A welcome discount
- Free shipping
- A free gift
- Early access to a promotion
Collect information from visitors
An on site message can do much more than display content. By adding one or more form fields, you can collect useful information directly while visitors browse your website.
For example, you can ask for:
- A 5-star rating
- Quick feedback about a product or service
- The answer to a question
- A choice between multiple options
If you need more detailed information, you can use the on site message as an entry point and direct visitors to a landing page with a more comprehensive survey.
Customize the message style
In addition to its content, you can also customize the overall appearance of the message from the designer's Styles panel by clicking the paint bucket icon in the upper-right corner.
From here, you can configure:
- Layout, size, and spacing
- Fonts, colors, and text formatting
- Button appearance
- CSS and custom code

Keep the message style consistent with the rest of your website. This creates a more natural and recognizable experience for visitors.
