Learn how to sync Meta custom audiences starting from your magnews audiences.
You can use the data you have on magnews to define a target audience on Meta, such as "Customers with an abandoned cart" or "Customers active on the site", and perform specific advertising with Meta's tools.
Create a new custom audience
After completing the configuration from the Profile Studio in magnews, open the Meta for Business menu, then click on Custom Audience and then on Create Audience.
By clicking on Create Audience, you will be directed to the home of the created custom audience, where you can continue the setup and later check the import status.
Select contacts for matching on Meta
You can modify the parameters entered in the previous step via the Edit button.
This is also where you define the criteria to "search" for the Facebook contacts corresponding to those you have on magnews.
To do this, click Add Filter to restrict the contacts to export: only contacts that meet the filter will be added to the custom audience.
After defining the filter, you can click on Count Contacts to ensure you're not sending an empty set of contacts.
By selecting the option Clear Audience Before Starting, you ensure that contacts no longer meeting the filter are also removed from the Meta audience with each sync.
Field mapping
By clicking the Mapping button, the Email field is already mapped, which allows you to include in the audience those contacts with a magnews email also used as Facebook login.
For greater accuracy, you can add mapping with other fields (mobile, address) by clicking Add Field.
- Only contacts with information present on both platforms will be associated.
- Even if the sync has just been performed, the custom audience may take 24 to 48 hours to update on Meta. For more information on field formatting, visit the Official Facebook Documentation.
- It is not possible to know which exported contacts will populate the Custom Audience. Facebook only provides indications on the total number of formally correct contacts, not those that match the platform.
⏱️ Activate automatic sync
You have completed the setup and selected the contacts you want to include in the custom audience, now activate the sync.
Click the Activate button in the Status card; you will be asked to specify the time of day you wish to send the contacts to Meta.
You can also start the sync instantly by clicking Start Now.
Use workflows to add contacts to Meta audience
Contacts are sent once a day to Meta to be added to the audience.
However, if you want to add (or remove) individual contacts promptly, once the audience is configured and activated on magnews, you can add a Meta - Custom Audience node to your automated flow.
In the node configuration, you will need to specify the audience to which you want to add the contact and the action to be performed (add or remove).
It’s not essential for the contact to match the filter set in the audience in this case, but ensure they are in the target before the next automatic sync. Otherwise, (with the clearing option active) the contact will be removed.
In case of removal, if the contact was not already in the audience, they will simply be ignored.
