What are audiences?
Audiences are the targets of your communications. You can use them to segment your contacts, i.e., group them into “vessels” for use in different contexts within magnews.
What are audiences for and when to use them?
magnews allows you to create audiences according to a wide variety of criteria. This activity is very important in the process of contact management: always keep your focus on your intended use.
You can also create audiences in the global database. In this case, contacts belonging to all databases will be part of it.
If, instead of creating your audience from subscribed contacts, you decide to make it directly from the database, it will contain contacts in all statuses: subscribed, unconfirmed, suspended, unsubscribed. In this case, the contacts will retain their audience assignment even if they change status.
Once the audiences are built, magnews provides you with numerous features with which to exploit them.
- When you select the target audience to send to, send to the entire database or to one or more audiences.
- Have only contacts from a certain audience access a landing page.
- With web experience, have onsite messages displayed only to contacts contained in one or more audiences.
- Evaluate the insights of your assets by filtering the statistics of contacts grouped in the same audience.
- Use audience membership to make a filter on contacts.
- Study the behavior of contacts who belong
- Starts a workflow only for contacts in a certain audience.
- Export contacts that are part of the same audience.
... and many other activities you find in the platform.
Some examples of audiences
Create audiences with the meaning or purpose that is most useful to you. Here are some examples that are useful in most cases.
- Newsletter subscribers
- Customers who have purchased on the site, to thank them for their last purchase or offer related products
- Loyal customers, to whom you can send initiatives such as a reserved coupon
- Contacts interested in promotions, so potentially also in new products
- Contacts who live in a certain area, to whom to send invitations to events and activities in the area
- Contacts who click but do not buy, who can be enticed with a customized promotion
Audience types
There are two types of audiences.
- Dynamic: Contacts are added to these audiences automatically based on a filter, rule or parameter.
- Static: Contacts to be added to the audience or removed must be selected manually.
For dynamic audiences that rely on numerous rules and apply to voluminous databases, it is suggested to use dynamic on-demand audiences, which calculate the result on user request and not automatically as dynamic audiences do.
Each contact may belong to multiple audiences, even of different types. If, however, you notice that many contacts belong to several different audiences, you may have created too many of them.
You can delete the audiences you no longer use at any time without losing the contacts that belong to them.
