What are static audiences
Static audiences are containers of contacts with no rules or automatic updates: contacts can be selected manually or added through automated flows or via file or FTP import.
How to create a static audience
To create a static audience, go to the Profile Studio > Audience Management > Statics page and use the New Audience button at the top right.
If the static audience is temporary and the time after which it will be unused is known, you can use the Delete automatically option, which allows you to choose a number of days after which the audience will be automatically deleted.
Deleting the audience, whether manual or automatic, does not delete the contacts it contains.
You can also create a static audience during the importing of a contact file. From here, you can set up the creation of an audience to which all imported contacts will belong.
How to add or remove contacts
You can add and remove contacts from a static audience in different ways, depending on your workflow and how many contacts you want to manage. Here are the main options:
From a contact’s home page, in the Audience tab, click the Add to audience button and choose the static audience where you want to include the contact.
To remove the contact, in the same tab open the three-dot menu on the row of the relevant audience and select RemoveUse the “Add/Remove from audience” action node in an automated flow to manage additions and removals automatically
During a manual file import, choose whether to add the contacts to an existing static audience or to create a new dedicated static audience for them
When creating a scheduled activity to automatically import contacts from FTP, choose whether to add the contacts to an existing static audience or to a new dedicated static audience in the Import rules section
Select multiple contacts at once and choose the option to add or remove them from an audience. You can do this from different areas, such as the Contacts page of a database or by clicking on the Target of a send
Hierarchy of static and dynamic audiences
Static audiences cannot have a nested structure among themselves, but they can be "parents" of dynamic audiences. To do this, simply use the "New sub-audience" action found in the static audience list.
You can view the dynamic sub-audiences of your static audiences in the tree view of dynamic audiences.
View modes
You can view your static audiences in the list view, where you can select multiple items at once and apply actions such as Delete or Change expiry date.
