Gmail, with its Google Postmaster Tools, provides useful information on email deliverability. By linking Google Postmaster Tools to magnews, you can directly monitor the spam rate of your sender domain on the platform - that is, the rate of emails reported as spam by your Gmail contacts—and identify any issues in your sending strategies.

Before you start
To view the Spam Rate in magnews, the sender domain must first be added and verified in Google Postmaster Tools.
If you haven’t set it up yet:
- Log in to Google Postmaster Tools with your Google account.
- Go to Domain Management and add your sender domain.
- Copy the TXT verification record provided by Google.
- Add the TXT record to your domain’s DNS.
- Return to Google Postmaster Tools and click Verify.
Once the domain is verified, Google will start collecting data related to emails sent to personal Gmail accounts. Data might not be available if the sending volume is too low.

How to connect magnews to Google Postmaster Tools
Access the list of sender domains from Backstage, Deliverability.
Click the "Google Postmaster" button located at the top right.
A popup will open to link magnews and the Google account you use to access Google Postmaster Tools. Then click the "Connect Google Account" button.
Select the Google account you use to access Google Postmaster Tools.
Click Continue (or Continue if your browser language is English) to confirm the connection between your Google account and magnews.
Enable the checkbox to allow magnews to access the domain data registered in Google Postmaster Tools.
Warning
Enabling this consent is essential for magnews to complete the connection with your Google account, access your sending domain data, and display the reputation in your account.
At this point, in the list of sender domains, you will see the spam rate data.
Clicking again on the "Google Postmaster" button will open a popup about the connection to Google Postmaster Tools.
From here you can:
- see the list of connected Google accounts and, for each, the associated sender domains, when the Google account was added/linked, and by which magnews user;
- remove a Google account by clicking the three dots on the right and then Remove;
- check the connection status for each Google account with the associated sender domains by clicking the "Check Account" button;
- add another Google account by clicking the "Add Account" button;
- access Google Postmaster Tools by clicking Open Postmaster Tools.
Where to monitor the sender domain’s spam rate in magnews
Once the connection between magnews and Google Postmaster Tools is complete, you can monitor the reputation from the list of sender domains or with the deliverability check available for communications.
Sender Domains List
In the sender domains list, a chart shows the Spam Rate trend over the last 30 days. The colors represent the following states:
- Green: spam rate below 0.1%, which is low and in line with Gmail’s recommendations.
- Yellow: spam rate between 0.1% and 0.3%, above Gmail’s recommended threshold.
- Red: spam rate equal to or above 0.3%, a threshold not to be reached according to Gmail.
- Black: unable to access Google Postmaster Tools data with the connected Google account.
Gmail recommends keeping the spam rate below 0.1% and avoiding it exceeding 0.3%, as do Yahoo and Microsoft.
Deliverability Check
In the Email card of a communication, click Deliverability Check.
If you haven’t connected magnews to Google Postmaster Tools yet, you will be prompted to do so.
If you have already connected, you will see the latest available result on the sender domain’s spam rate on Gmail.
If, instead, the spam rate is high, you will see a message explaining what it means, the effects on sent emails, and a direct link to our dedicated guide on how to reduce it. Additionally, the message informs you of the date when the spam rate worsened.
Email notification if the spam rate is high
When the spam rate exceeds 0.3%, magnews will send an email notification to your account manager to inform them.
