Want to deliver personalized and always up-to-date communications to your customers? With the Dynamic Feed feature in MagNews, you can build dynamic product lists based on the data from your ecommerce catalog. Starting from a synchronized data table containing your product catalog information, you’ll learn how to configure automated feeds tailored to each contact’s interests. This guide walks you through structuring your data table, filtering and sorting content, customizing communications, and creating dynamic sections in your newsletters to boost your email marketing performance.
Import your data
The basic prerequisite for configuring any dynamic product list is to have a data table on magnews, updated and synchronized, containing all relevant information from your catalog.
Find out how to create and import your catalog via Google Shopping Feed and other ways.
Configure Dynamic Lists with Dynamic Feed
Having prepared and populated your Product Catalog, it's time to configure your dynamic lists. Follow the path:
Journey Lab > Dynamic Feed
in this way you will be able to create a new data feed to which you will link the new table created under Contact Extensions
In our example we are going to configure a Dynamic Feed that displays information about products, but filtering by collection.
In the Contents tab we are going to add all the fields in the created table that we want to display within our newsletter.
From the Filter tab you can instead configure the detail of your dynamic list; specifically:
- the Filter the contents option is the one that allows you to enter all the rules, filters, and selection logic for your dynamic list. Use all catalog attributes to locate the dynamic product list you want to select.
- the Sort the contents allows you to select attribute and sort mode with which you want the product list to be displayed (e.g., creation date or decreasing price).
- the maximum number of products to retrieve, with the option Limit the number of contents
Lists by contact fields
Create highly personalized communications that are different for each contact.
Products by interest
Leverage the match between master data and data on products to present relevant content to each contact.
On the contact you can configure fields that represent products of interest such as:
- collection
- category
This information can be transferred from a CRM, or collected directly in magnews via questionnaires or popups.
When creating the data feed select the "Feed by contact field" usage mode and set the mapping between the contact field and the column in the original data.
Add any filters: restrict products to only those with an availability date (i.e. Disponibile da) within the last 30 days, so as to enable specific communication for new items in the catalog.
How to create a section in the communication
In the layout of the newsletter add a Dynamic feed type section and link the data feed you just created:
- choose the type of layout you want to give to your communication
- go to edit on the selected block
- navigate to the Content tab and link the data feed you created in our case Catalogo per collezione (i.e. Catalog by collection)
- if you want, set a limited number of contents to be displayed in the appropriate field
Preview
To verify that everything is set up correctly click the Preview button.
Since this is a contact field feed, in Preview click on Customize and select a contact with the "collection" field populated. If there is data for that collection in the data feed, you will find the block populated automatically.
Possible scenarios
The contact field feed applies to numerous contexts beyond commerce:
- articles by thematic channel (blog, news);
- new properties in the area and by the type requested (real estate);
- travel proposals aligned with your explorer identikit (tourism).
There are countless scenarios that can be implemented with the data feed for contact fields.
