Sending attachments via email with magnews is simple, but requires some care to ensure optimal delivery. Attachments can impact deliverability and increase the risk of the message being blocked by spam filters. For this reason, in most cases it is advisable to include a link to the file to download.
However, if you need to insert a document directly into the message, magnews offers two options: the standard version and the conditional attachment.
Standard version
The basic option allows you to add one or more files as standard attachments to the message.
Procedure:
- Start creating your communication.
- After filling out and saving the basic information (name, subject, type, etc.), you'll find the "Attachments" section in "Email setup."
- In this section, you can select the files to attach to your email.
Warning: Remember that attaching large or numerous files can reduce the chances of your communication being delivered. Always consider whether a link to a landing page or an external repository (for example, a private area or a company drive) might be a more effective option.
Conditional Attachment
For more complex needs, magnews offers the Conditional Attachments feature. These are file packages that are shown or hidden based on certain conditions, such as the user's language or other segmentation rules.
Main features:
- You can define different attachments for each condition (e.g., a PDF in Italian for Italian users, one in English for English users).
- You must always set a default attachment as a fallback, which will be sent to users for whom no conditions apply.
- If you enable conditional attachments, the built-in ICS generator will not be available. In other words, the ICS will be hidden to avoid conflicts.
Procedure:
- From the communication dashboard, click Email setup.
- Navigate to the "Attachments" section and add the default PDF by clicking Select files.
- Activate the Attachments based on conditions option and then click Add condition.
- In the "Condition" section, select the condition you want to apply. In our example, the attachment will be conditioned by the user's reference language.
Choose one or more attachments to display for the condition you want to apply and click Save. - In the "Attachments" section, you can now view the default attachment and conditional attachments with the assigned condition name.
- Click Save communication to apply the changes.
This feature is particularly useful for multilingual campaigns or communications that require specific documentation depending on the recipient.
Attachments are an add-on. If you don't see the section, contact the helpdesk for more information.
