With the new 7.0 version of the WhatsApp Business app, new features and improvements make managing WhatsApp communications in magnews easier and more reliable.
From full support for WhatsApp usernames to new message validation checks, here are the main updates.
Send messages to contacts with WhatsApp usernames
Following the initial support introduced in version 6.0, magnews now allows you to send WhatsApp messages to contacts identified by username (BSUID), without necessarily requiring a mobile phone number.
To support this feature, the WhatsApp Business channel uses the WhatsApp Address field instead of the Mobile Phone field.
The new field is populated automatically, simplifying contact address management and allowing you to continue communicating with contacts who use their phone numbers.
This allows you to manage both contact identification methods and prepare for the use of WhatsApp usernames.
New management of incoming contacts
We've also updated how new contacts interacting with your WhatsApp Business channel are managed.
The database dedicated to incoming contacts must now use the Username field as its primary key. This field contains the WhatsApp username or, if unavailable, the mobile phone number.
You must also enable the Allow contacts without an address setting in the database, so contacts who send messages without a phone number can also be saved.
Meta pricing update
Starting October 1, 2026, Meta's new pricing for WhatsApp service messages takes effect.
The WhatsApp Business app automatically applies the new pricing from the scheduled date, without requiring any manual action.
This ensures that message costs remain aligned with Meta's pricing updates.
New validation checks to reduce rejected messages
We've introduced new validation checks to help you identify potential issues with WhatsApp messages before sending them.
When creating and saving templates and communications, magnews checks the length limits for text and personalized content, notifying you when the allowed limits are exceeded.
These checks help you correct errors in advance, reducing the risk of rejected messages and making communication preparation more reliable.
Other improvements
Version 7.0 also includes several updates to the interface and conversation management:
- App Center navigation: reorganized menu to make it easier to access the Templates and Conversations sections.
- Sender information: automatic updates to profile information, quality ratings, and daily sending limits.
- WhatsApp conversations: improved display of interactive messages, including those with reply buttons and option lists.
We've also introduced several fixes and optimizations to improve app stability and WhatsApp message management.
