With the new 6.0 version of the WhatsApp Business app, new features make communications more interactive and flexible in magnews.
From support for WhatsApp usernames to templates with multiple buttons and interactive messages in workflows, here are the main updates.
Initial support for WhatsApp usernames
WhatsApp is preparing to introduce usernames (BSUID), identifiers that will allow you to communicate with contacts without necessarily using their phone numbers.
With this version, magnews introduces a new contact field dedicated to WhatsApp addresses to prepare for sending messages using usernames.
For now, if a WhatsApp address is not available, you can continue using the contact's mobile phone number.
Important: this is the first phase of support for this feature. As of July 2026, WhatsApp usernames cannot yet be activated, only reserved. Their use will depend on when Meta makes the feature available.
WhatsApp templates with multiple buttons
WhatsApp templates are now more flexible, allowing you to add multiple buttons to the same message, up to a maximum of 10 buttons in total.
This allows you to offer your contacts more ways to interact within a single communication, such as choosing between different actions or links.
The number of buttons you can use depends on the selected button type and the limits set by Meta.
Interactive messages in workflows
With version 6.0, you can send interactive WhatsApp messages directly from workflows, without having to create and obtain Meta approval for a template for each message in advance.
From the WhatsApp Send Message workflow node, you can choose between different content types:
- Quick Reply: up to 3 quick reply buttons, allowing contacts to choose between different options.
- Interactive List: up to 10 selectable items, offering multiple options within the same message.
- Link Button: directs contacts to a web page.
- Plain Text: sends a message without interactive elements.
These new options allow you to create more dynamic conversations and guide contacts through the different stages of your workflows.
Other improvements
Version 6.0 also includes several updates to simplify WhatsApp communication management:
- Template categories: you can view the Marketing, Utility, or Authentication category directly in the template list and detail page.
- Permission management: improved access controls for app features, including templates, conversations, and the designer.
- Template management: improved display of information about template approval and possible rejection.
We've also introduced several fixes and optimizations to make the app more stable and reliable.
