We have created a new section just for templates
Follow the path: Journey Lab >> Templates >> Communication
- Click the button New template

- Choose the method
- Editor --> the same editor as for communications is used
- Import --> (PRO) create your template off line (in HTML and integrating it with Giotto code to make it interact with magnews)
- Choose if it is a multi-language template
- Click the button Create Template
- If you choose Editor
- Start from Inspire template
- compose the template using the section
- Click the Publish button
- From the template home page you can:
- see the source information and version of your template
- customize the thumbnail
Edit an existing template
Let's assume that 2 months after the template creating you need to make a change, proceed as follows:
- Go to your template's home page
- click the button New version
- modify the template
- Click the Publish button
- Shared Sections saved from communications based on this template will be overwritten by those currently in the template.
Sections already included in communications will not be changed. - Choose whether it is a “Minor” update (e.g. change of background color, an image etc.), or “Major” e.g. product list is displayed on 3 columns instead of 2).
An indication to update the template will appear in the drafts created by the template
Sub-template
You need to create a declination of your newly created template (in our case we start from weekly template to create daily template):
- Create and name the template (daily)
- Apply the custom template (weekly)
- Customize the “Daily” template, e.g. then create a new section or change some settings.
- Publish version 1.0 of the “Daily” template.
You have a need to update the parent template (Template weekly).
- Create a new version of template weekly (in my case I added a section)
- Publish the version
In the template list you will find the child template (daily) labeled by a label
You will have to decide whether to pass the changes on to the child template as well or not; if not, you don't have to do anything:
- Enter the child template
- Click the button New version
- Click the button Update template
- Publish the new version of the daily template with the changes passed on from the parent template (weekly).
Connect your custom template to Inspire
All custom templates created before April 2025 are NOT automatically linked to Inspire, if you would like to link them to have the code always up-to-date with the latest news follow these simple steps:
- Go to the Journey Lab section >> Templates >> communication
- Select your template
- Click the button New version
- Click the icon with ... and select Code
- Move to the Info Tab
- Click the button Change origin template
- Select Inspire
- Save
- Publish
- In the template you will also see the name of the origin template
