What the Brand Protection Score is
A score, from 0 to 100, that measures the completeness and quality of the current technical configurations in the account to protect your domain and brand.
The more complete and correct these configurations are, the more positive the impact on deliverability will be, which is the ability of your emails to reach the inbox of your contacts and be read.
The aim of the Brand Protection Score is to provide a snapshot of the current state of configurations and offer suggestions on what and how to improve.
What it evaluates
The technical configurations considered to determine the Brand Protection Score are related to the sending domain and web domain.
Sending domain
The sending domain is the domain of the sender's email address for the communications. For instance, for the sender email address info@example.com, the domain is example.com, which is the part after the @ sign.
For the sending domain, the check verifies if:
- it is defined in the Sender Domains section of the account, accessible via Settings > Brand Protection;
- it has MX records;
- it is certified with DKIM;
- it implements DMARC.
Web domain
The web domain is the domain used by Magnews for tracking clicks on the links within communications.
For the web domain, the check verifies if:
- it is aligned with the communication's sending domain;
- it has an SSL certificate and ensures a secure connection.
Gmail sender domain reputation
If the majority of your contacts are Gmail users, using Google Postmaster Tools is essential for you, as it allows you to monitor your sender domain reputation and many other critical aspects of Email Deliverability. Once you've configured Google Postmaster Tools and added your sender domain, you can connect magnews to the Google account you use to access Google Postmaster Tools. This way, you can monitor your sender domain reputation directly in your magnews account.
By connecting magnews to Google Postmaster Tools, the Brand Protection Score will include the sender domain reputation on Gmail. The lower the reputation, the more the Brand Protection Score will be reduced accordingly.
How to monitor it
To monitor the Brand Protection Score, access the communication and click on Deliverability Check located in the Email card.
Depending on the state of your current configurations, you will see a different score.
If the score is low or medium-low, we strongly advise following the guidance to resolve the issues before sending communication to prevent negatively impacting your deliverability.
When all configurations are correctly set up, your Brand Protection Score will be 100.
