Learn how to import custom HTML into magnews and create a communication.
We suggest using custom HTML only if you are familiar with HTML code. Communications created via HTML import will also lack some of the features of standard magnews templates, such as the drag-and-drop visual editor.
Create a new communication
To import a custom HTML, first create a new communication:
- Enter Journey lab, click the “Create” button and choose Communication.
- Select the journey in which to place the communication and click the “Create” button.
- Give the communication a name, choose the email channel, and confirm by clicking “Save Communication”.
Import HTML code
Move to the HTML Code tab and click on the Import HTML box.
Choose where to import the file from:
- your computer, in which case select a .zipper file containing the HTML file and related resources, or just an HTML file with absolute links for all resources;
- the web, by entering the URL path where the file is saved.
Images and other resources are automatically added to our CDN and their references are updated in the communication code.
- Change the encoding of the file if the one proposed by magnews does not align with the chosen file.
- Click the Analyze File button and examine any warnings reported.
- Finally decide whether to:
- insert the HTML code inside a template, and have magnews add the link for the web version at the top and the unsubscribe link at the bottom;
- import just the code, which should already contain at least the unsubscribe link (find out the link structure in the Giotto doc).
- Click the Import File button to proceed.
In the example, the file was imported without putting it into a template, having the service links (web version and unsubscribe) already included.
