Looking to improve your email deliverability and strengthen your brand identity? Creating a custom web domain in magnews is the first step to ensuring professional, secure, and recognizable communications. In this guide, you’ll learn how to properly configure a web domain, set the necessary DNS records, and optimize your infrastructure for effective email marketing and automation workflows.
Choose the web domain
The ideal web domain is:
-
a subdomain of your sending domain in the case of email communications;
-
a subdomain of the domain representing your company, brand, product, or service online, in the case of SMS communications or landing page.
Some of the most chosen subdomains are: mn, news, newsletter, dem, web, m, marketing, nl, email.
Suppose your company is called Example and your company or sending domain is example.com, your web domain could be the subdomain mn.example.com.
Create the web domain
Create the web domain in magnews
Access the web domains section by following the path Settings > Brand Protection > Web Domains
On the page to create a new web domain, enter the chosen web domain and click "Create Web Domain".
Now follow the instructions on creating the CNAME type DNS record, a fundamental step to connect the chosen subdomain to the platform.
Meanwhile, magnews saves your web domain in draft status.
Only after the creation of CNAME record, you will able to publish the web domain and use it.
Create the CNAME record in your DNS Provider
-
Access your DNS provider hosting your business domain or sender domain (e.g., GoDaddy, Aruba)
-
Go to the section where DNS records are set
-
Add a new DNS record with these values:
-
Type: CNAME
-
Name or host: mn (or another subdomain/third level you've chosen)
-
Value: fe-mn1.magnews.net
-
If you’re not independent in this task, download the instructions from the specific button and share them with your DNS Provider support or your IT area or the person managing your domain's DNS configurations.
