The Profile studio dashboard gives you a global overview of your contacts and the tools you use to acquire and manage them. Here you can analyze acquisition trends, learn more about your contacts, check how many you can reach, and quickly access the main management features.
Profile studio represents the global database, the general container for all the databases in your organization. The Profile studio dashboard therefore shows global information related to all databases.
Each database also has its own dashboard, with information filtered by the selected database.
Business fields let you highlight contact fields that are important to your business, such as the number of orders, total spending, or consent to receive promotional communications. The dashboard can show a summary of the values in these fields for all contacts or for the contacts in a specific database.
To access a specific database dashboard, open the database from the list available in Profile studio or use the menu at the top of the left-hand panel.
Discover how you acquire new contacts
The New contacts card shows how many new contacts you acquired during a selected period and where they came from.
You can select a time period, which is set to 30 days by default.
Trend
The Trend section shows:
The number of new contacts acquired during the selected period
The trend compared with the previous period
The trend compares growth during the selected period with growth during the previous period of the same length.
For example, if you select the last 30 days, magnews compares the contacts acquired during the last 30 days with those acquired during the previous 30 days.
The trend can be positive, negative, or stable and is shown as a percentage.
If you did not acquire any new contacts during the selected period, the value +0 new contacts is shown. The comparison with the previous period is still calculated.
Source
The Source section shows where the new contacts acquired during the selected period came from.
The data is shown in a donut chart, with sources ordered from the most common to the least common. The total number of new contacts appears in the center of the donut.
The source is based on the Source contact field. In addition to the values provided by magnews, you can create and customize new values based on your acquisition channels.
This way, the donut gives you a more accurate view of the channels that bring new contacts into your database.
If you did not acquire any new contacts during the selected period, the section is unavailable.
Contact status
The Contact status section shows how many contacts acquired during the selected period are subscribed, pending confirmation, suspended, or unsubscribed.
The total number of new contacts appears in the center of the donut.
If you did not acquire any new contacts during the selected period, the section is unavailable.
Learn more about your contacts
The Contacts card shows a snapshot of the contacts in your databases and their level of engagement and doesn't appear when there are no contacts.
Engagement
The Engagement section shows the engagement level of subscribed contacts across different categories, such as Never openers, Openers, and Clickers.
You can also find the Out of recency category, which includes contacts who have not interacted with communications during the configured recency period.
Recency is the period that magnews uses to determine whether a contact is still engaged based on their recent interactions with communications.
The number in the center of the donut represents the total number of subscribed contacts, not the total number of contacts in the database. Engagement is calculated only for subscribed contacts.
In this and all other donuts in the dashboard, you can select items in the legend to show or hide the relevant categories.
Source
The Source section shows where the contacts in the database came from.
The data is shown in a donut chart, with sources ordered from the most common to the least common. The total number of contacts appears in the center of the donut.
This section is based on the Source contact field. To get useful data that matches your organization, you can customize the field values and use them wherever you acquire or update contacts.
Contact status
The Contact status section shows how the contacts in the database are distributed.
You can see how many contacts are subscribed, pending confirmation, suspended, or unsubscribed. The total number of contacts appears in the center of the donut.
Discover how many contacts you can reach
The Coverage and contact details card helps you understand how many subscribed contacts you can reach through the different channels and doesn't appear when there are no contacts.
Reachable contacts
The Reachable contacts section shows how many subscribed contacts you can reach by email, SMS, or through both channels.
For each channel, you can see:
The number of reachable contacts
The percentage of the total number of contacts
You can compare the coverage of the different channels and understand how many contacts you can reach through email, SMS, or both.
Subscribed contacts with blocked contact details
The Subscribed contacts with blocked contact details section shows how many subscribed contacts have a blocked email address or mobile number.
For email addresses and mobile numbers, you can see:
The number of contacts with blocked contact details, which you can select to open the Blocked contact details page
The percentage of reachable subscribed contacts on the same channel
The count only includes blocked contact details associated with subscribed contacts. For this reason, it may differ from the total number shown on the Blocked contact details page, which can include contact details that are not associated with contacts or are associated with deleted contacts.
Compare acquisition data with overall data
The New contacts and Contacts cards let you look at your data from two different perspectives.
For example, in the Source section of the New contacts card, you might discover that 90% of your new contacts came from sign-up forms during the last month.
When you look at the Source section of the Contacts card, you might see that most contacts in the database came from an external CRM.
This comparison helps you distinguish between the channels that are currently bringing in new contacts and those that have contributed most to building your database over time.
Highlight your most important data with business fields
If you have configured business fields, the dashboard may include the Highlights card.
The card shows a summary of the values in the contacts’ business fields. Depending on the field type, you might see an average, a total, a percentage, or a distribution of values.
In the Profile studio dashboard, the data refers to contacts in all databases. In a specific database dashboard, the card shows data for contacts in that database.

You can select the numbers to open the corresponding page directly.
In the Profile studio dashboard, the main count includes all databases, including the global database. In a specific database dashboard, the counts refer only to the selected database.
Tag cloud
If the database contains tags, the dashboard also shows the Tag cloud.
The Tag cloud provides a visual representation of the tags used to classify contacts. The size of each tag varies based on how often it is used in the database.
