Q: My contact no longer wants to receive a specific type of communication, but I don’t want to unsubscribe them from everything - what can I do?
There are many cases where receiving communications depends on a field (e.g., Marketing consent) and not on the contact’s status.
Use case
Contacts are subscribed to multiple newsletters or brands and a preference center with different options is used. If a contact wants to unsubscribe from a specific communication, you can remove them from the recipients of that communication without fully unsubscribing them from the database.
You will be able to see in the reports that the contact requested the unsubscribe, allowing you to manage their preferences.
Example: you are a store and you send communications for 3 brands, so you have 3 fields
- Brand 1 --> Yes/No
- Brand 2 --> Yes/No
- Brand 3 --> Yes/No
each brand corresponds to a dynamic audience for sending (for example Brand 1 = Yes)
If a contact clicks the Unsubscribe button from the Brand 1 newsletter, you want to stop sending them newsletters from Brand 1, but they can continue to receive communications from Brand 2, therefore:
Customize the unsubscribe page
- Go to the unsubscribe page
- Click the form button
- Go to the Actions tab >> Edit the unsubscribe action by enabling the contact option
- Save
The contact’s status will remain Subscribed, but the unsubscribe action will be recorded in the communication.
