Contacts often have related data that extends the available information. When it comes to 1-to-1 associations, meaning a contact is linked to at most one record, you can view the information directly in the contact card.
Before you begin
Let's explore the available alternatives as a data model.
You want to assign a contact the service they have subscribed to, such as a magazine subscription or a telephone service. Or the company they work for. There are two options for data modeling:
- enter the information directly as contact fields;
- or create a data extension in which to enter pricing profiles and companies, and relate this data to the contact.
Each solution has its advantages, and in some cases, the relationship approach is the only viable one.

- Create a data table with the typical data that describes a company: name, address, website, number of employees.
- Enable the contact extension.
- Create a contact field in 1-to-1 Association and activate the option “Show all fields of the associated extension.”
- In the Contact tab, you will find the extended information available as a tab.
