Service pages manage the key moments in the relationship with your contacts - subscription, unsubscription and data updates - and allow you to define what happens at each step.
Here you can see how to create them and where to intervene to adapt them to your flow.
Where to start
Start from:
Profile Studio > Database > Settings > Service pages
The global database already includes the most common configurations, such as subscription confirmation and unsubscription.
Subscription and preferences pages, instead, must be configured based on the data you want to collect or make editable:
- The subscription page must reflect the fields you want to store when a contact registers
- The preferences page must show only the information the contact can update
Since they depend on the data you use, these pages are not created automatically.
If you work with multiple databases, you can create specific pages for each one.
Create a new page
In the service pages list:
- Click New service page
- Choose the page type:
- Subscription
- Subscription confirmation
- Preferences
- Unsubscription
- External unsubscription
For subscription, preferences and unsubscription, you can start from a template and modify it in the designer.
For external unsubscription, instead, you cannot use the designer because the page is managed outside magnews.
If you are working on subscriptions and want to understand which option to use, read the guide on single opt-in vs double opt-in.
Customize the page
After choosing the template, you work in the designer, where you can:
- Edit text, layout and images
- Add or remove form fields
- Configure form actions (e.g. subscription, data update)
Each service page always includes:
- A main page
- A final (confirmation) page
In some cases, you will also find courtesy pages. For example, in the preferences page there is already an invalid access page, useful to prevent unauthorized changes.
This way, you can adapt the page to your flow and the goals you want to achieve.
Manage the page after creation
After creation, you access the page management screen, where you can:
- View an overview with the main information
- Access the designer and settings
- Manage content, media, messages and responses
- View performance and responses
- Access more detailed reports to analyze page usage
From this screen, you can also activate the page, or do it from the list using the three-dot menu.
Configure settings
In most cases, you do not need to change the settings because default configurations already work for most use cases. However, if you need to handle specific cases, you can adjust:
- Page name
- Description: to add internal notes
- Access languages: allows you to show the page only to contacts with a specific language. By default, the page is accessible to all contacts.
- Retention time for views and responses
- Access conditions: used to prevent improper use.
For example, you can prevent access to the unsubscribe page for contacts who are already unsubscribed.
Special case: external unsubscription
The external unsubscribe page works differently: in this case, you do not manage the content in magnews, but provide an external URL, for example a page on your website.
In the options you can:
- Define name and description
- Limit access by language
- Insert the external page link
- Decide what happens when a contact clicks the unsubscribe link in a communication:
- Do nothing
- Mark as unsubscribed
- Set as suspended
- Decide whether to add the contact to the blacklist
Once active, the page becomes the reference point for managing that type of interaction with your contacts.
You can modify it at any time to adapt it to changes in your database.
